San Want Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan

My second visit to Taiwan was upon the invitation from my good friends at Kingston to attend their 20th anniversary celebration. They gave us, members of the regional media, a tour of their facility at Hsinchu, including a tour the best spots near Taipei.

Guest house Bangkok, Thailand

This is the view in front of the Bed and Breakfast Guest House located along Soi Kasemson 1, Rama 1 Road, Patumwan in Bangkok. There are also several guest houses in the neighborhood complete with Internet cafe and food stalls. Best, it's near MBK Mall as well as walking distance to the MTR station.

On top is the photo of my small room, which I paid for Bht500 a night. It has a private bath and a window. However, the view from the window, believe it or not, is the tight hallway of the guest house, so there's actually no outside view. I stayed two days and two nights at this place right after coming from Phuket and before flying back to Manila.

USA Hostel, Hong Kong

From Beijing, I went to Hong Kong and extended my China trip for another three days. My girlfriend, Mel, and I tried to saved some money (better spent on shopping) and stayed in a hostel I frequented along Nathan Road in Kowloon. It was her first time to stay in such a place and turned out to be quite an adventure for her. Anyway, the place was clean enough for her taste and the people handling the low-cost guesthouse was very friendly and accomodating. They even have online reservation, making it easier to get a room in advance.
We got a corner room with two windows. The top photo is a shot of Nathan Road with the Holiday Inn in the left side. The other photo is an ongoing construction site where the old Hyatt Hotel used to stand. Yes, it was quite noisy in the morning.

Celebrity International Grand Hotel, Beijing

This is my first time in Beijing. Didn't see much because I had to attend a forum, which was my priority. Not much to see around the hotel as well, except that we're located within the Olympic Village where a lot of construction is going on in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I saw the infamous "Bird's nest" stadium still being built in its final phase. Unfortunately, it was behind the hotel and I couldn't get a good shot from my hotel room.

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

My second trip to KL and the world's second tallest building is right behind the hotel.
I took this shot from my hotel room window, which was not even half the height of the famous Petronas Towers. A beautiful work of modern construction, indeed.

Baal Taal, Tagaytay City, Philippines

The place is called Baal Taal in Tagaytay City. A private resort for the well-off; not that I'm one on them, just had the opportunity to stay a couple of days with my friends from the press. Nice view of Taal Crater Lake and Taal Volacano (the small lump on the right side of the island; also considered as the smallest volcano in the world, very active too).

The view from my hotel room at Taal Vista Lodge in Tagaytay City, Philippines. Unfortunately, you could not see the wonders of Taal Volcano from this side of the hotel. However, what you could only see from the photo is part of the Taal crater lake where the world's smallest volcano is also located, on the far left that is.

Miniloc, Palawan Island

Here's a fantastic view from my cottage at Miniloc Island Resort located in El Nido, Palawan, one of the Northern island groups southwest of the Phillipines. This is my fifth visit to El Nido since 2002, staying at Miniloc for the third time; the other two were at Lagen, a sister island resort of Miniloc about 20 minutes boat ride away. Try visiting this place once you're in our country - it's paradise on Earth.

Plaza Athenee, Bangkok

Here's my view from the hotel room on my visit to Bangkok last November 21. I stayed at Hotel Plaza Athenee, located on Wireless Rd.- walking distance (a bit of a long walk) from Suan Lum night market. Also, a train ride away from MBK Mall (a place to buy Japanese collectible toys) and Pantip Computer Plaza (a favorite IT place of mine). I was in the Thai Capital for 3 days attending the Intel Wireless Mobility Day media briefing.

At the back of the hotel are Lochart and Wan Chai Roads- a place for shopping and plenty of toy shops.

I went to Hong Kong by the invitation of Vanco, a London-based virtual network operator (VNO), launching their new web portal called Vanco NetDirect held in a media conference at the Hong Kong Cyberport.

A view from my room at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Singapore. Not much of a view, but the hotel is located just a block from Orchard Road and that's good enough for me, or for any other tourist for the matter.

Nonetheless, every time I'm in the Lion City, I see to it that I get to visit Sim Lim Square (for computer stuff) as well as Sim Lim Tower (for electronic spare parts).
